This small trekking without major difficulty will enable you to discover the Sherpa world. This wandering group originating from the east of Tibet (Kham) came, by the Nampa La, to these highlands, more 450 years ago, searching new pastures for their cattles. Buddhism was completely fixed there at the XVIIe century. Finding there a favorable environment, they continued to develop their way of life. Although it forms an integral part of the culture absolutely everywhere, it is in the villages like Namche Bazar, Khumjung, Thame or in Thyangboche, that the ceremonies, with the economic and social advancement in the 1920's, are celebrated with the most enthusiasm. The Sherpa festival (Manu Rimbu) is very richly equipped and, even if it is not very old (the first festivities started in 1947), remains very valued by all the population.
