General Conditions

In knowledge of the human (laws, behaviors...) and natural environment; in order to facilitate and to assure your stay or your activity as well as possible, we propose to you:

Registration:

Every registration to one of our activities implies to know the various points mentioned below. After his registration, the participant will receive by email a confirmation file and will be regularly informed.

Health:

Our programs are, for majority, sport activities and are practiced in mountain. It is recommended to be on a top form. Many treks go up to high altitude (+ of 4000 m). For your safety but also for the group cohesion (if it is the case), it is better to know you well in the practice of these activities and its difficulty.
A Gamow bag (hyperbar bag) accompanies us for treks in high altitude (+ 4000 m) for groups with, at least, 5 people. That could not, naturally, exempt a good physical form and a minimal preparation for trekking or walking on icy and rocky areas.

Insurance et rapatriation:

It is essential for you to have a multirisk guarantee including research, rescue and repatriation. It is asked to us by the embassy dealing with the rescue organization. Be always attentive with your personal insurance contract. Be aware that some credit card insurance doesn't work on this case. A cancellation insurance can be useful in the case of difficult events. A photocopy of your search/rescue/repatriation insurance contract will be requested from each participant at your arrival.

Prices:

The prices given are subjected to the dollar rate exchange and brought up to date, if necessary, at the beginning of year. A too important modification of those can involve a readjustment of our rates during season. They will remain, however, those notified on this web site at the time of your registration. The payment in foreign currency will be done at your arrival. Not to give a surprise when you will be there, our prices include taxes and all the acces permits as reported. Consult "Include/exclude services" in our technical file.

Cancelation:

If it comes from your side, you must warn us as soon as possible.
If La Compagnie des Guides de Katmandou, for imperative reasons related to a local situation (natural or political) and in agreement with the embassy safety commission, had got to suspend its activities before your arrival, you will be as soon as possible informed. We cannot engage your safety with dangers related to no controllable and external factors.

Accommodation:

Aware of your quiet and comfort needs, we have selected as well in Katmandou as Pokhara, Delhi, Leh, Lhassa and whatever the type of your stay (package or trek) you asked, hotels having these features.

• In Kathmandu :
  For our packages (trekking + visits), the rates given on our technical files include a standart * hotel. If you want to change for a ** hotel or for a **** hotel (old Rana palace - XIX century) with swimming pool, thanks to contact us.
• For our programs trek (without visits), the rates given on our technical files do not include the hotel. We suggest to you to choose between a standart * hotel , or a ** hotel , or a **** hotel (old Rana palace - XIX century) with swimming pool. If you want one of these hotels, Thanks to contact us and to tell your choice.

• In Pokhara :
  For our packages (trekking + visits), the rates given on our technical files include a standart hotel. If you want to change for a *** cottage lake side, Thanks to contact us.
• For our programs trek (witout visit), we suggest to you to choose between a standart hotel , or a *** cottage lakeside. Thanks to contact us.

Woman guide (in Nepal):

The number of female guides, sirdar & porters not being yet very high, their availability is not always assured but we make the maximun to answer to your requirements.

Porter:

Our porters carry around 25 kg (30kg tolerated, 15kg being authorized by people on the aircraft). 1 porter for 1 or 2 trekkers maximum is used for the trekking in lodge (the organization is much heavier for trek with tents). Beyond this weight another porter will be engaged and will be remunerated for its service. A porter ensures his carrying service but it will also help you in the lodges, will be able to create the bond between you and the local people. But its formation and its knowledge do not predispose him to ensure your safety. It is you (or the person in charge - sirdar, guide) to guarantee his safety. It is not a marathon runner who will follow you on your sport achievements; he carries 20, 25, 30 kg, think of them. Without him, nothing could be done. The habit for the last day is to give something if you appreciated their services.

Responsabilities (important):

• The information given on this site are provided only as an indication and cannot engage the the C.G.K's responsibility. We carry out the updates according to information which we receive.
• Each participant has to follow the medical and police formalities of the visited country.
• Each participant must be aware that he can have risks due to the local conditions met (transport means, the distance to the medical centres, isolation...). He assumes with the full knowledge of the facts and commits himself not to tranfert the responsibility to La Compagnie des Guides de Katmandou.
• A non-observance of the regulation or advices given implies the only participant responsibility who will deal with the caused expenses.
• Considering the nature for the most part of our activities (practised in mountain or high mountain), each participant must conform his behaviour to the advices and instructions given by the person in charge of the group. La Compagnie des Guides de Katmandou cannot be responsible for incidents, accidents and other damage which could result from a personnal initiative.
• Following the ground and weather conditions, the situation on the spot, the tour leader considering the safety is not enough guarantee, can change the normal route or to stop the activity.
• Considering the nature of our activities in a specific environment (ground, weather forecast or others) we can not be held responsible and debtor of no allowance in the case to change the schedules, the appointed route and other alterations which could occur following unforeseen events or in pressing circumstances implying the safety of the participants.
• We can be in the incapacity, for external reasons, to provide a part of engagements suggested (hotel, transport...), we would replace it by an equivalent one without involving you an additional cost. In a same way, no compensation will be given for a change of plan.
• La Compagnie des Guides de Katmandou, using other service (transport, hotels...), could not be joined to them in case of problem. They preserve their own responsibility.
